Green Sakthi unifies reforestation, social empowerment, education and environmental sustainability in India

Sakthi

Sakthi (pronounced shakti) is a Sanskrit word that means feminine energy or power.

With 30 years’ experience and under local auspices, Green Sakthi plants indigenous trees, empowers local women with employment, promotes sustainable farming, and continuously educates in local schools.

Sri Sakthi Amma

Green Sakthi was borne out of Sri Sakthi Amma’s great love for nature. When Sri Sakthi Amma established Sri Narayani Peedam in 1992 at the age of 16, the Vellore area of Tamil Nadu, the land was arid and there were very few trees. The reflection of the sun on the bare ground increased the already high temperatures.

Over the last 30 years, 2 million indigenous trees have been constantly planted and donated locally and completely transformed the area into a cooler area with shade and increased rainfall.

Our Goal

Welcome to our goal of reforestation and afforestation indigenous trees in Tamil Nadu, South India, over the next 20 years. At the core of our endeavor is a commitment to forest regeneration, sustainable agriculture, social empowerment, and environmental harmony. Through multi-tree cropping, we support local farmers, enabling them to cultivate diverse crops while preserving the indigenous flora. Our efforts extend to waste management, ensuring that our surroundings remain clean and pristine.

Additionally, we take pride in our landscaping maintenance, enhancing the natural beauty of our communities while fostering an eco-friendly environment. But our impact doesn't stop there. We aim to create a sustainable ecosystem that benefits local communities by growing food and nurturing their well-being.

Together, we envision a greener, healthier future for Tamil Nadu, where nature thrives, communities prosper, and the environment is safeguarded. Join us in this transformative journey as we plant the seeds of change, cultivate harmony, and grow a brighter tomorrow. Your support means the world to us, and together, we can make a lasting difference for generations to come.
